SEO Is A Waste Of Money

It probably seems rather odd to have a new blog post on Search Engine Optimization and have it be about how SEO is a waste of money. I should probably support this opinion by throwing out a bunch of impressive numbers with lots of comma's that I dug up during my hours of research, but to be completely transparent, I really didn't do hours of research to write this. I could also talk about the amount of money spent on Search Engine Optimization each year and of course show its effectiveness with a really cool 3D chart, but charts and graphs generally irk me.

I have chosen instead to write from my own experience as the owner of an SEO company as well as a client...as a student of some of the most well known SEO guru's in the industry as well as a teacher. Many of you are going to agree with what I have to say throughout the course of this and many of you won't...and both of you are welcome and encouraged to leave your comments!

So, what exactly makes SEO a waste of money? Well, if your primary goal is to get a top 10 listing on Google, you can accomplish that fairly easily with little or no effort. You don't need to pay someone like me to do it. All you need to do is find a keyword phrase that doesn't have that much competition, write an article or two using it, make sure it's in the title of your page and create a handful of external links using that phrase. Tada! So how come the phone still isn't ringing?

It's because there are so many vital aspects to SEO that go well beyond keyword research and placement and yet they are almost always overlooked. In most cases, it is because your goals are off. Most companies focus on a top 10 listing or doubling traffic, neither of which is a guarantee that business is going to improve. At the end of the day, what do you want the outcome of your campaign to be? I would think that it is to grow your business, correct?

If that is your goal, then it is clear that there is more to Search Engine Optimization than just your ranking and traffic. You need to think about all of the following and then some:

Ideal Client: If you aren't clear on who your ideal client is, then how will you know what they want? Suppose you run a salon and your target audience is "anyone with hair." How will you be able to connect with your visitor when a young woman has completely different needs than an older man? Yet, they all have hair.

Design: You can drive tens of thousands of visitors to your website, but if the site doesn't have the look, feel and quality that the visitor is expecting, they will not do business with you. Try launching a bank website with really bright colors and pictures of bank vaults, gold coins and stacks of cash everywhere and let me know how it goes.

Keywords: When you are clear on who your ideal client is, put yourself in their shoes and learn what they are searching for and how they search for it. Someone who might be looking for a Denver Plumber to redesign their bathroom will search in a completely different way than someone coming home to 2 feet of water in their basement.

Content: Writing quality content that will appease the search engines at the same time that it inspires the reader is the key. If you cram your keyword phrase in the text enough times, you may get a good ranking but when your visitor reads your text you may come across as illiterate.

Solutions: Provide solutions for your visitors rather than patting yourself on the back all over your site. When someone does a search online they are either looking for the solution to a problem or the answer to a question. if you site is focused primarily on you and what you have done and what your credentials are, you aren't solving the visitors problem and they will leave the site and find someone that will. Think about it. If you throw your back out and go to the chiropractor, do you want him to ramble on about where he went to school or do you want him to fix the problem?

When looking for the best way to market your home business there are tons of possibilities. Of course some may end up costing you more than others. Whether you want to market yourself through the internet or through regular mail, there are certainly some methods of marketing that will be more cost-effective than others.

If you have just begun your home business it probably isn't reasonable to expect to advertise yourself on a local billboard. However, it’s most certainly reasonable to post an advertisement in your local newspaper, print flyers, mail postcards, or advertise perhaps in places that you might not initially think of like your church bulletin. You could also post links to your website on certain forums online or if you’ll look you can find really good free classified advertising avenues to start getting the word out. Of course, they best kind of free advertising is through word-of-mouth.

Most forms of marketing have costs that range from relatively small to some that can be rather expensive. Printing fliers can be fairly low cost, but you must account for the cost of your paper and printer cartridges as you go through them.. Postcards are a very nice and effective way to advertise, but of course you have the cost of the cards first and then the postage. People love getting postcards though and they are almost always read, so you know your message is getting in front of those valuable eyes you are after. Starting a home-based internet business is the dream of many would-be entrpreneurs across the globe. Every single day countless numbers of these people are turning their dream into a reality. The more you put yourself out there on the internet in many aspect, the issue of identity theft is a growing concern.

Operating an online business requires many hours on your computer doing the things necessary to build your business. As a result you can sometimes open yourself up to privacy issues. Here are 11 of the best ways you can lower your risk of becoming a victim of identity theft. At the end of this article, step number 11 is fast becoming THE preferred way for people to secure the themselves.

An identity thief takes your personal information and uses it without your knowledge. The thief may run up debts or even commit crimes in your name. Take these steps to help insure yourself against this crime of our times.

Number One: Protect your Social Security Number

If you do, stop carrying your Social Security Card in your wallet. If a company you do business with wants to use your SS# as your account number or id number, ask them to use another number. Protecting your Social Security number is the key to controlling identity theft.

Number 2: Don’t let your identity get trashed

Own a paper/document shredder as part of your business. Shred or tear up papers with your personal information on them before you throw them away. Shred credit card offers and other mail you receive that might have your personal private information on them.

Number 3: Use caution when clicking around the Internet

Before entering credit card or other personal information on any web site(especially if you are new to it), read their privacy policy. See what your options are to opt out of sharing your information. IF there is no privacy policy posted, BEWARE!. Do business somewhere else. When you do enter personal information, enter it on secure web pages with “https” in the address bar and a padlock symbol at the bottom of your browser. These signs indicate protection from hackers.

Number 4: Beware of “Phishing”!

Scam artists disguise themselves as legitimate businesses that you do business with everyday like your bank, stores, eBay, Paypal, government agencies and such. Tactics include phone calls, emails, regular mail, and others asking you to verify personal information like account numbers and passwords. Don’t respond unless you initiated the contact with that company by calling them. If they called you, ask them if you can call them back. Additionally, legitimate companies do not ask for this sort of information in these ways.

Number 5: Keep control of your personal financial information

Limit wheenver you can, the sharing of your information between companies and/or their affiliates.

Number 6: Opt-out of pre-approved credit card offers

Many pre-approved credit card offers are simply ploys to make your information an easy target to gather.

Number 7: Check your bills and statements

Open your bills and statements. Reconcile right away and look carefully for any unauthorized charges or withdrawals. If you miss receiving these in the mail one month, call to find out why in case anyone stole them from your mailbox or have changed your contact information.

Number 8: Protect your computer

Computer viruses and spyware can compromise your privacy. Use the appropriate security software. Make your passwords difficult for others to guess. DO NOT click on links in spam email.

Number 9: Make a regular check of your credit report

This is one of the best ways to protect yourself. Monitor your credit history. You can get a FREE credit report every year from each of the three national credit bureaus.

Number 10: Ask Questions

When considering the numerous ways to marketing your new home business, there certainly are the obvious choices which we will discuss here but there are beneficial advertising opportunities that might not immediately come to mind. Some will naturally be more cost effective than others.

At the outset, it isn't reasonable to expect to advertise yourself on a local billboard. However, it’s most definately smart marketing to say post an advertisement in your local newspaper, or to print flyers, mail postcards, or maybe consider placing an ad in your church bulletin. Postcards are a very nice and effective way to advertise, but of course you have the cost of the cards first and then the postage. People love getting postcards though and they are virtually always read. This is a great way to ask your family, friends, and acquintances to help you get the word out. This adds some up front costs to getting your word of mouth going, but again it will be worth it. Posting an ad in a newspaper or other such places, even online as mentioned will cost you for the ad space so it's important to know how much you are willing to spend for various advertising avenues.

Depending on how much you are willing to pay for advertising, your marketing may be limited. However, it is still prudent to try a method or two to determine which one is showing a return. Be prepared to cut your campaign immediately if it appears it is going to cost more than it is going to bring in. One way to determine whether or not one of your methods of marketing is profitable is to survey your customers. When they make their purchase(s), give them a way to respond to the question of how they heard about you. Knowing where your best return is coming from is crucial to your advertising success. Initially, the best strategy is to test. Test each chosen method and increase the ones that show the best return while eliminating those that are just costing you time and money. The money you save from eliminating the non-productive methods can then be redirected to strategies that are working.

It usually takes some time to find the best marketing solution for your home business. Ultimately the best return most often comes from a combination of methods. Consequently, it is important to not limit yourself to a one method for advertising. Constantly be searching for the best solution that brings in the most results at the lowest cost.

Some ask, Should I Even PAY For Advertising At All? The answer is yes and no. 1. Use a hand written letter on your ad copy instead
of typed text. Write your home businesssales letter on a

Adding this personal touch will always increase your sales.

2. Publish a list of famous and respected customers
who have done business with you. People will think that
if these people do business with you, they can also trust
your online business and purchase your products. It's prudent

By a show of hands, who wants to go to work day in and day out for an unappreciative boss, be stuck in traffic about two hours per day, and miss many of your children’s milestones? Nobody?!? There is hardly anyone currently employed who does not daydream of working from home, being their own boss, forgetting about the commute, and being available to family and friends whenever possible. For quite a few, this dream has become a reality when they started their own home business. Some, however, have a hard time getting started or NEVER DO because they have a tough time deciding just what to do for a work from home business. If you’re in this boat, you’re not alone. Many others are there and have been there.

While finding your work from home niche doesn’t have to be that hard, it is also not as simple as many try to make it sound. To help you along in this process and to help you wade through much of the hype, here are some things to consider when getting ready to earnestly find something to do as a home business.

What are you capable of doing that perhaps someone else does not wish to do or is not able to do? This could be a great starting point for you to find a niche that you could fill in the marketplace and can turn into a profitable venture for you. Lots of things that take a special ability are good ideas even when others have the ability to do it, many times don’t want to do it and therefore will gladly pay someone else to take difficult or messy tasks off their hands. Skills take a special knack can many times be turned into a home business.

If a special skill does not come to mind readily, why not capitalize on a special talent you may have? Are you a fine artist and can paint portraits of people, places, animals and things that are so lifelike that friends and family are always asking you to do one for them? Are you a great cook? Does your garden look like an oasis in a sea of gardens with dried grass and wilting flowers? Can you explain even the most complex algebraic equations to your children in such a way that they actually understand them? Perhaps you play an instrument and would not mind teaching others to do so as well. If any of these things describe you or you are thinking of something we haven’t discussed here, then you quite possibly could have a talent that is quite marketable whether it’s online, off line or BOTH!

Most of the time, just some solid brainstorming about what you can offer in terms of your talents, abilities, special knowledge, etc, can yield one terrific idea for a home based business.

Maybe you are more inclined to take something that someone else has already established, like a franchise, and make that your vehicle to your dream of working from home. Don’t let the word “franchise” scare you in terms of what it might cost. Many franchises or franchise “type” businesses have minimal to only moderate start up costs and are many times not out of your league financially. There are many franchise “type” businesses in the online business world that have very low start up costs and offer amazing systems that anyone with just a little ambition can plug into. They are out there. They are legitimate work from home business opportunities that many real people are using to make real money from the computers at home. Last but not least, if you have neither a special skill nor confirmed talent, you do not need to give up! The simple fact is… the perfect idea for your home based business is out there. You just have to have the desire along with the will power to put the thought process into discovering what your niche could be. As long as your dream to start and run your own home business is alive in you, don’t give up on it and you will discover your home business niche like many other people just like you have done and are living that dream.

He wrote a review of a business book that many online network marketers or multi-level marketing business owners have used successfully to grow their online MLM business.

Today's feature article:

In his book, "Magnetic Sponsoring," Mike Dillard teaches you, the network marketer, how to apply the proper marketing strategies that will turn you into a magnetic sponsor.

Though the "Magnetic Sponsoring" book only prints out 49 pages of content, it does not teach network marketers how to promote their business step by step. It is a guide, not an exact step by step road map. I can compare the Magnetic Sponsoring book to a conversation Neo and Morpheus had concerning a woman known as "The Oracle" in "The Matrix" the movie 1999.

The dialog went like this:

"Neo: So is this the same Oracle that made the prophecy?

Morpheus: Yes. She's very old. She's been with us since the beginning.

Neo: The beginning?

Morpheus: Of the resistance.

Neo: And she knows what, everything?

Morpheus: She would say she knows enough.

Neo: And she's never wrong.

Morpheus: Try not to think of it in terms of right and wrong. She is a guide, Neo. She can help you to find the path.

Neo: She helped you?

Morpheus: Yes.

Neo: What did she tell you?

Morpheus: That I would find the One. I told you I can only show you the door. You have to walk through it."

In a book like this, the information has to be generic and serve as a guide designed to help the network marketer to become a magnetic sponsor, but he/she has to "walk through the door" and apply the information contained therein.

Mike Dillard, once a surgeon recruiter for many hospitals quit his job and became a table waiter in order to pursue his career in network marketing. After discovering the proper use of positioning, and "sellucation" his term for the art of self-selling through education, sponsored 35 personal reps. and grew his organization to over 500 within just months and averaged over $500,000 dollars per year in volume sales.

Today he spends his time and efforts teaching network marketers the proper strategies of marketing and magnetic sponsoring, as well as serving as a marketing consultant to industry leaders.

In "Magnetic Sponsoring," I found out that the strategy of the ABC business model is the most valuable a networker can learn. Mike doesn't just tell you what Part A, Part B, or Part C is. He teaches you how to apply that principle in your MLM business,network marketing business, internet marketing business, or what ever you want to call it in order to keep your business running, and to make sure there is constant cash flow, and growth.

This book truly brings a fresh, high energy, revolutionary, and an effective approach to network marketing. "Sellucation" is intertwined through out the entire course. Educating prospects and applying the franchise business model is essential for network marketers to become magnetic sponsors.

Though it took me some time to fully understand how to apply magnetic sponsoring marketing techniques into my business, I feel that even people with little or no experience in MLM business, network marketing business, or internet marketing business,should have no problems applying the proper marketing strategies found within the book after reading it a few times.

In his newsletter, Mike guarantees that in just ten days, he can turn you into a MLM lead & cash generating wiz! I have to confess that at first, I did not really believe that; I thought he was just another guy creating a lot of hype to make a quick buck. After reading his "Magnetic Sponsoring" book however, I really see that he can actually back up his claim.

One thing I felt Mike could have done to make his book even better, was maybe expanding on the section about franchising a network marketing business with more specific, detailed explanations and/or illustrations as to how exactly this strategy should be applied so that the reader learns to apply this technique a lot faster, and effectively to his/her MLM business, network marketing business, or internet marketing business. But then again, the information is very generic and it applies to any business. As long as is read carefully a few times, there souldn't be any problem applying those strategies.

Based on the claims that Mike makes in his free 10-day boot camp training, and in his "Magnetic Sponsoring" book, I could not think of any questions left unanswered, or any unfulfilled promises.

If you are in MLM business, network marketing business, or internet marketing business, you know that the life blood of any business are leads to generate prospects. In order to accomplish that you have to advertise and/or buy leads. If you are running your business on a shoe string budget, and want to generate prospects, generate cash to fund your advertising, and do NOT want to spend yourself out of business buying expensive leads, then my highest recommendation is this:

On a five star rating, one being the worst and five being the best, I give the "Magnetic Sponsoring" book a four star rating.

Though Mike Dillard has already produced a follow up ebook with 13 special reports on magnetic sponsoring that he gives as a bonus for acquiring the book, I hope he produces yet another more thorough breakdown of proper network marketing techniques book that teaches how to become extremely magnetic in network marketing.

It amazes me sometimes when I consider the number of people who desire to start a home based online business and are yet so resistant to the fact that there may be some upfront costs to doing business.

Consider this...Anytime a person buys a franchise for instance. Let's say it's a McDonald's. One has to know that in this case there is a lot of upfront costs. There are the franchise fees, equipment costs, employee expenses and a lot more of an ongoing nature. Of course, there is the cost of marketing and advertising that must be done to draw in business and to grow the business. It's the same for companies that are expanding by opening new locations and such. It's no different for a small mom & pop type business and certainly a home based online business as well. These upfront expenses are inherent to every new business whether it is offline or online.

Like any other type of business, a home based online business shouldn't jump on any and every advertising or marketing idea that comes along. No matter how great a marketing company might say there advertising solution may be. They may say it's the best option out there and if you'll just do this you can sit back and watch the money roll in. Don't fall prey to such claims. Surely, there are solutions out there, but a home based online business owner must use the same discretion as his offline colleagues. Seek out and go for the most exposure at the most economical cost. Knowing also, that marketing or advertising can often take some time to reap a return.

Free advertising is the desire of every business whether the business is offline or online. And Businesses should seek out and take advantage of as many good free advertising opportunities as they can get their hands on. A good number of which I will direct you to in this article.

As a home based online business owner, you must know and understand that in order to grow your business, it will take some cash outlay in some form. Expect it. Know it. Believe it will. Then use your business acumen or draw on that of others to market effectively. Especially from those who have a vested interest in seeing you succeed like your upline in a Network Marketing or Multi-Level Marketing business. Business success groups, colleagues, partners, and other business people in general can be a source for you as well.

The following article is actually an article I wrote back in 2007. It's called Changing The Face Of Network Marketing. It's one of my favorites so I wanted to bring it back and share it early in 2009 because I believe this is and should be the future of Multi-Level Marketing. Changing The Face Of Network Marketing

It is said that perception is reality. This is true to the person who has the perception. Those involved in Network Marketing know the truth about the brilliance of the compensation plans they believe in, but too many times even with the best of intentions Network Marketers shoot themselves in the foot with what they say or how they describe this truly genius marketing plan.

“I’ve never participated in MLM programs, because I don’t want to be under somebody having to get more people under me.” This was an actual response from someone I talked to recently about Network Marketing. Why does he feel this way about MLMs? Just look at what he said and how he said it. Take special note to his choice of words. “I don’t want to be UNDER somebody…”. This perception has to go.

Why is it there in the first place? There are a number of reasons. I would submit to you, though, that the Network Marketing industry and the people in it perpetuate this unfortunate misconception. How?

Mostly by the terminology that is used when people are showing their business plans. Also, by the illustrations that have been shown for years like the drawing of circles one underneath the other underneath the other and so on.

For this particular prospect, it is his perception that he is "under" someone, as if he is a subordinate to the person above him. Nothing could be further from the truth! It’s interesting to note that he has no problem being a subordinate to his boss at his job. Those of us that understand the brilliance of the Network Marketing compensation plan know that in reality, MLMs are truly the most level playing field available for anyone who gets involved compared to any other business structure out there.

The reality, as we know it, is that EVERY person that gets involved in an MLM program has an equal chance of success in terms of promotion status and compensation than anyone else in that program. No matter where that person may be in the “system”. When one person sponsors another, they are on equal ground in terms of the success each one can achieve. The new associate can actually out promote and can far out earn his sponsor if he so chooses. He who does the work gets paid the most. Isn’t this the most sought after thing in the work world? That is equal opportunity for everyone no matter who they are or where they come from? Isn’t this what traditional business has been trying to accomplish for years? Hasn’t our government tried to legislate this??? Here’s a news flash for the traditional business world… You can never truly accomplish this. Network Marketing always has and always will have it.

Why do think most people want to own their own business? They want equal opportunity.

In Network Marketing, sure the sponsor in most cases is getting overrides off of his downline(bad term we’ll discuss later). However, if the sponsor is out “sponsored” by his partners then the partners promote to higher levels and make more money. Sometimes a lot more money. So in this case, who actually is below or under who?

Network Marketing is truly the most equal and level playing field for anyone who makes the decision to get involved despite of their background. The traditional business structure is far from being this fair. The true “pyramids” are traditional businesses and governmental structures where the guy at the top always makes the biggest money while those UNDER him are compensated far less. Additionally, those in the “downline”(better term for these business structures) of the traditional business can NEVER promote past the guy at the top. They may be able to promote past others in their “upline”(better term for this structure), but usually at the expense of someone else. When someone is promoted in the traditional business structure, many times it is at someone else’s expense fostering resentment and bitterness by those demoted or passed over.

In Network Marketing, on the other hand, a sponsor would love for anyone in his “downline”(can we get rid of this term?) to promote to any level they desire. In fact, the sponsor encourages it and begs for it… Please promote!... Everyone! Any associate’s income in Multi-Level Marketing is NOT at the expense of anyone else's in the organization.

I’ve made several references to terminology and whether I believe it’s good or bad depending on which business structure you are referring to. Network Marketing’s references to those in one’s organization giving the perception of subordination really need to be done away with. “He’s in my downline.” “She’s in my upline.” It is my belief that the perceptions of many prospects like the one I referred to earlier might have had a different opinion if certain references and illustrations changed in Network Marketing.

So what should you call your business partners in your Networking business? Well, just that, "Business Partners" is a start. I don’t think anyone should refer to their business partners as part of their “downline”. That would seem to indicate that they are somehow lesser than you or a subordinate to you in some way and we know that this is NOT the case.

I don’t believe when circles are being drawn for a prospect that you should put yourself ABOVE them. On the contrary, you should draw YOUR circle at the BOTTOM of the page and put your partner circles above you. Or draw them out to the side. After all, they are equal partners with an equal chance to succeed.

We all know that the true pyramids are the traditional business structures. Let’s separate and distance ourselves from them. Can we please?!? MLMs are equal opportunity and traditional business is not. We need to clearly distinguish Network Marketing businesses as the equal opportunity structure that traditional businesses are not.

Uplines should be Sidelines. Downlines should be your true Upline. Put your sponsored partners above yourself to raise yourself. We all know that that is what Network Marketing is all about. Helping others to succeed.

Come on Network Marketers, let’s change this perception to the true reality of equal opportunity for all.

It seems today that more and more people want to work out of their homes. The reasons are too numerous to list here, but usually include "tired of the rat race", "I want to spend more time with my family", "the economy", "I hate my job", "My job may soon be gone", and so on.

As many other have, I have searched high and low for a way to make money from home on the internet. For me, it's kind of like trying to find that other best song on the radio. You find something you like, but you keep searching across the dial just in case there is something better on. Sounds like what us men do with the TV remote as well. That has described my search for the perfect online business.

I have come across a lot of scams no doubt. Surprisingly, though if you really look and in the right places, there are legit ways to make an online income. Some require more effort than others and they usually pay accordingly. One way I found was to check the popular and reputable News sources online like Fox News, CNN etc. Type in a search for work at home programs and in a lot of cases you will find where they have reported about such programs. They tell you what is legit and what isn't in a lot of cases and what to watch out for.

I have a number of ventures I have delved into in the online marketing world. They are giving return but do require more work than what they originally said they would. Of course that should be expected if there really is going to be a return, right? The ones that actually require some work are the ones that usually actually make you money. If they say little or no work is required to make the big bucks they are claiming you could make, you can be certain that little or no work actually means little or no money. In fact, they'll probably ultimately cost you money. If they are honest from the start that your venture will require some work, you're probably looking at one that will make you some real money.

Along those same lines... A opportunity that says "No Risk", "No Investment", "Small Investment", "No Selling", and other such "No's", these are not necessarily red flags to a bogus opportunity. The "No Selling" claim is often because they have a system or videos and such that do the selling for you. That's great! "No Selling" is an attractive benefit. The big negative one to watch out for is "NO WORK". Again, "no work" usually means NO MONEY.

In regard to making money on the Internet, everyone is always
looking for the quick fix. They want to sign up for a program,
place an advertisement, and make hundreds or thousands of dollars
instantly. While this may be possible depending on your
circumstances, the most direct and guaranteed path to success on
the Internet is to stick with the fundamentals.

A friend of mine who is an athletic coach for kids in the city
where I live reminded me of this lesson. This guy is actually so
passionate about kids and athletics that he coaches 4 different
sports: basketball, soccer, baseball and football. Of course, he
has a kid of his own on each team. But what is remarkable about
this guy is the results he gets with his teams.

He was recruited to coach the 8th grade football team where his
children go to school. After 27 years of losing seasons in a row,
the first year my friend became the head coach the team won the
district championship and repeated their championship run the
following year. This past weekend he coached 12 different games
and won all 12 of them. As you can tell, this guy is extremely
dedicated.

But the funny thing is that he and the kids he coaches are not
totally hung up on winning. If they lose a game, they feel
equally good about themselves as they would if they had won. What
matters most to them is how well they played and lived up to
their potential as a team.

The real question is how my friend's teams continually perform
on such a high level and beat nearly anyone they play even though
they are often smaller and younger than their competitors. I
asked this question to my friend the other day and he told me
that it's all in the fundamentals.

In his practices, all he works on with his kids is keeping a
positive mindset and practicing the fundamentals. He told me that
his teams never scrimmage or strategize about upcoming games
during practice. They simply work hard on all the fundamentals of
whatever particular sport they are playing and do so more than
any other team they play. This constant practice and improvement
of the fundamentals is what allows his teams to progress faster
than his competitors. While most other teams get caught up with
how to win, out-strategize, be stronger than and intimidate their
opponents, my friend's team is just so good at the basics that
they blow everyone out of the water when game day arrives.

This got me thinking about my own Internet business and why I've
been able to succeed on such a high level while most others who
have tried to do what I do have failed. The answer is not really
surprising.

Most people who try to build a successful Internet home business
are looking for the quick fix. They want it to work IMMEDIATELY
and so they usually fall prey to business opportunities that
promise to help them get rich overnight and advertising scams
that promise to deliver thousands of hungry prospects to their
website in the next 24 hours. Of course, these opportunistic
schemes are really just geared to steal people's hard earned
money. You see, when someone is desperate and looking for an
INSTANT solution, they will often be taken advantage of and their
chances for success with an Internet home business are slim to
none.

However, while there are thousands of business opportunities on
the Internet and millions of different ways to advertise and
promote your website, I personally practice the fundamentals in
my Internet home business. I do this by sticking with the
business opportunities I've joined for the long haul and
promoting my website consistently with simple, affordable and
easily maintained Internet marketing techniques.

In fact, one of the techniques that works best for me is writing
articles like this one and getting them published on other
people's websites using article syndication tools and software
found online.

By writing articles and getting them published on other websites
online using powerful tools like those mentioned above, I'm able

people without paying a dime in advertising. Of course, the key

thousands of dollars, but ask them to do a little hard work and
they say "No way."

It's this understanding that can separate you from the pack. If

faithfully and consistently, you will be destined to succeed on a
high level. But if you can't and you're only looking for the
quick fix, you have already lost the game before you even set
foot on the field.

How do I find the ideal profitable Niche? Many people seeking to earn money online ask this question every day. The answer is very simple and this article is going to outline how you should go about finding a great niche that will allow you to earn a substantial income stream on an ongoing basis.

Picking the right online niche is probably one of the most important decisions you will make for the direction of your online efforts. You don't want a niche which is too competitive as it will be too difficult to make money. On the flip side of that a niche with too few customers will not make you enough money to justify your efforts. The ideal niche will be a combination of having a large number of paying customers without having too much competition.

To begin the process you need an idea. You should also visit the Google trends website and make a note of what people are searching for.

Once you have worked out a niche that interests you, you will need to check out it's stats. Type in your main keyword for the chosen niche into a keyword tool and see how many searches it has per month. It's best to find a niche with over 10,000 searches per month, and obviously the more your niche gets the better.

Now you need to check what level of competition you can expect in the niche. You can do this in Google, Yahoo, MSN or other search engines. Start by typing in your main keyword to the search box surrounded by quotes. On the sidebar there should be a total number of results for that search query.

With Google you should be trying to stay under 1,000,000 results. On Yahoo try and keep it under 500,000 and with MSN keep this number below 300,000. This will keep your competition to a minimum, which helps you grab a big slice of the traffic. These figures are a guide to go by, and are the ones I use. Different internet marketers will have different ideas of what constitutes a busy site.

When you have found a niche that fits into the criteria outlined above do a Google search on that keyword and see what other people are selling, or if there are people selling anything at all. You may find a niche that is saturated with so much free information that it would seem impossible to sell anything at all. This will depend on the quality of the information. If it is all junky spam you may be able to provide the only quality information in the niche, and people will pay for that rather than wade through all the rubbish.

Once everything has checked out you are ready to start building your product or hunting for a suitable affiliate product for that niche. You need to concentrate on keeping your momentum going. If you are persistent you will soon have a portfolio of niche targetted websites that bring you a fantastic monthly income.

You are if you are trying to market your online business ONLY with online advertising. Many e-entrepreneurs miss out on a huge advertising opportunity for their online business when they put their sole focus toward internet marketing and advertising options. There is no doubt that there are numerous terrific avenues to market your business online from search engines to blogging and so on. However, you might be leaving out a highly effective and often quite INEXPENSIVE form of marketing if you haven't looked into "offline" advertising opportunities. In the offline area, there are just about as many great ideas as there are on the web to market your online business. Here are a few ideas you should seriously consider to maximize your business' exposure.

Most everyone's first thought when they think of offline advertising for their online business is classified advertising. While this certainly is one option, I put it down the list somewhat when considering effectiveness and cost.

My personal favorite and one I use is a rear window sign on your car. I really consider this a no brainer because everywhere you go your automobile is a moving advertisement to countless people that otherwise would never find your online business on the internet. Car magnets are similar and good, but I prefer the rear window sign simply because more people see it. I get a ton of exposure for my business and get lots of extra hits to my site with this method. That's what I did. It costs me very little and was only a ONE TIME EXPENSE! Yet, I get exposure over and over day after day after day.

Another great offline marketing tool is with the use of promotional business cards. These are not your typical business card which is something you should also have. These are business card size cards that just have your website(affiliate link, etc) listed on them and a short message that generates curiosity for the person who picks it up so that they hold onto it and check out your online business the next time they are in front of their computer. Something like what mine says. First my website address is bold www.ChooseHomeWork.com. Then below that is my message... "For Those who Desire To Choose To work At Home". Using neon colors for these cards are even better. These are hugely successful and again not very expensive. I just leave one or a group of these cards almost everywhere I go. A few at the gas pump, on the counter at the convenience store, at the checkout at the grocery store or at the ATM. The options are only limited to your imagination.

Classified advertising as I mentioned before is another really good option for offline advertising of your online business. This one is the grandaddy of them all. I realize there are many online classified advertising options, but I am talking specifically about offline newspaper and/or magazine advertising which is still a completely different dynamic that it's online counterpart. Offline classifieds in most cases reach an entirely different audience that the same ads you may be running online. The advantage of course over the other options mentioned here is you can cover a much larger area. You can advertise in different cities and numerous different publications that closely isolate whatever your target demographic might be. However, this can prove to be much more expensive especially when you consider the fact that many times you need to test your ad(s) a little first before fully committing to a campaign.

The options and ideas for offline advertising of your online business are many. Really too many to mention here. The whole point of this article is to hopefully inspire you that you should consider offline options in conjunction with the many online marketing avenues that you and I are putting time effort and money into. There is huge opportunity out there offline and the expense many times is very minimal. Couple this with the fact that VERY FEW online marketers take this route and this form of marketing is WIDE OPEN. I encourage you to consider those I mentioned here and hopefully other perhaps even better offline ideas are inspired within you. Brainstorm and let the creative juices flow. You might just hit on a great idea that will send many new visitors to your online business that never would even have had a clue it existed.

There are myriad small business opportunities on the net today. And if you do your research and find something you want to associate with, or you create a product for a well-researched target market, you are well on your way to financial success. Or are you?

You see the more you become active on the net as either someone looking for the right opportunity, or as someone who has found the right opportunity already, the more you are bombarded with choices. Everyday you get emails saying that the next best thing since sliced bread has come along.

The new "thing" demands your attention and you get nervous that you might be missing out on another opportunity for financial success.
